The development in human body passes through many stages which are
orderly interlinked. Features of each stage differ from one stage to
another. All of these factors collectively make base for human
personality.
Following are some of the important concepts of
1.
Growth: The growth is quantitative improvement which means the increase
in the number of cells. It has no concern with the learning of the
person.
2. Maturation: When
genetic physical capacities of the organism are unfolded it is called
the maturation. for example a bud changing into a full grown flower. It
brings out full potential of an individual.
3.
Development: According to Hurlock (1964), development is a progressive
series of orderly, coherent changes leading towards the goal of
maturity. Development is the quantitative changes in the direction of
maturity which is a combination of maturation and Development happens in
a pattern and it can be predicted.
